Journal editorial policy

  • Croatian Journal of Health Sciences follows the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines) and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (http://www.icmje.org/recommendations) and the World Association of Medical Editors – WAMA; https://wame.org
  • Croatian Journal of Health Sciences is a Diamond Open Access journal. The copyright of all material published is vested in the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences. Articles are available to read, download and share from the time of publication under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

  • Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the entire content of the Journal and the timing of publication of that content. Editor-in-Chief will base decisions on the validity of the work and its importance to the readers of the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences. Editors and Editorial staff will not disclose information about the manuscript received to anyone other than the correspondent, reviewers, potential reviewers and other editorial advisors, and the publisher.

  • Papers are submitted to at least two anonymous reviewers selected by the Editor based on the areas of their professional activity. In case that one of the reviewers rejects the manuscript, or the reviewers' opinions on the quality of the manuscript differ greatly, the manuscript will be referred to a third reviewer. Reviewers will be contacted after the manuscript has been revised, to evaluate the revised version of the manuscript and to give a final opinion on the publication. The entire procedure is carried out electronically, via OSJ platform. The final decision on publication is made by the Editorial Board. After reaching the decision, the authors will receive an e-mail notification from the Editorial office. All accepted manuscripts may be subject to editorial changes. Editors reserve the right to reject any material for publication.
  • All authors must have seen and approved the submission of the manuscript before publication and be willing to take responsibility for the entire manuscript. Statements and opinions contained in the articles are solely those of the authors and not of the University Department of Health Studies. The Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, and other members of the Editorial staff disclaim all responsibility for any injury to persons or property resulting from any ideas or products referred to in articles contained in the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences.

  • All authors must sign Uniform ICMJE Form for Disclosure of Potential Conflicts of Interest (http://www.iCMJe.org/coi_disclosure.pdf) and submit the completed form to Croatian Journal of Health Sciences together with manuscript.

  • Authors should clearly state in their accompanying statement that they submit the manuscript only to the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences, and that it has not been published elsewhere and that all named authors have contributed to the manuscript.

  • When reporting experiments on people, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committees on human experimentation and with the Helsinki Declaration. In that case the authors should ask for formal review and approval by an appropriate institutional Ethics Committee. Special consideration should be given to the protection of privacy and data confidentiality, in accordance with the EU Recommendation No. R (97) 5 on the protection of medical data (1997) as well as to the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation).

  • Studies using animal models should follow the standards for the care and use of laboratory animals (the International Association of Veterinary Editors’ Consensus Author Guidelines on Animal Ethics and Welfare).
