Instructions for reviewers

Upon receiving a manuscript, the reviewers should respond within 72 hours whether they agree to review a manuscript or not. The Editorial Board of the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences would appreciate the recommendation of another potential reviewer who has the appropriate expertise to evaluate the manuscript.

After accepted review procedure, the Editorial Board expects an opinion on the manuscript within three weeks. The complete review process is carried out electronically, via OJS platform on the web page of the Journal.

Any manuscript received for the review is a confidential document and should be treated as such: it should not be shown or discussed with other persons unless allowed by the Editor-in-Chief (who would do so in exceptional and specific situations). This also applies to invited reviewers who have declined a review invitation. Reviewers must not have a conflict of interest regarding the paper sent to them.

Reviewers should assess whether the content of the manuscript corresponds to the field of interest of the Croatian Journal of Health Sciences and whether it corresponds to the type of article proposed by the authors (original paper, review paper, etc.). Reviewers then evaluate the quality and originality of the manuscript as a whole and in its individual parts and make one of the following recommendations:

  • Acceptance of the manuscript
  • Minor corrections are required before publication
  • Major revision is required before publication
  • Not suitable for the Journal

Along with the recommendation regarding publication, the reviewer encloses a short confidential explanation to the Editorial Board.

Reviewers can suggest the necessary corrections to the authors in a separate letter and comment on their decision.
